1 in 5 Korean elementary school students are associated with Syndrome, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, anger management and affective disorder caused by alcohol consumption.
Such diseases are 100% preventable through abstinence from alcohol
Alcohol consumption by a pregnant mother will directly affect the fetus as alcohol is able to penetrate the placenta easily.
In just one glass of alcohol, there is enough acetaldehyde to seriously impair the fetus’ cell proliferation and neuro-development. This can cause central nervous system disorder, facial deformities, and developmental disability which is called Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.
A broader term is ‘Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.’ Currently in Korea, 1 in 5 elementary school students show signs of FASD. Furthermore, alcohol consumption cannot be dissociated with ADHD, anger-management and affection disorder. Korean women and youth must be discouraged from consuming alcohol for a brighter tomorrow.
