I warmly welcome you with the love of Jesus Christ.
World Woman's Christian Temperance Union (WWCTU) was established in 1883 by Miss Frances Willard with the motto of serving community "for God, for Home, and for Every Land." Thus far, for the last 125 years, WWCTU has been awakening the world to the harm of alcohol, nicotine, and drugs with the preaching of the Gospel, providing Woman's voting rights for the first time in history, and fighting for the improvement of education and for the status of Woman and children.
Korea Woman's Christian Temperance Union (KWCTU) was established in 1923 and for the last 85 years has been dedicated in the temperance movement
"for God, for Home, and for Every Land." During the Japanese colonial regime, KWCTU has actively participated in the promotion of Korean Products Movement with Elder Man Sik Jo, based on Christian values. It has fought for Woman's education, the independence of Korea, and the abstinence from alcohol. After the liberation from Japan, it has engaged, from 1946 to 1965, in the abolition of polygamy, and the rehabilitation of Woman who had been incarcerated. Thereafter, until 1975, it has provided job education training to the underprivileged Woman who were easy prey to prostitution. Ever since 1978, KWCTU has been carrying out scholarship ministries for teenagers in broken families, childcare ministries for working parents and promotion of the temperance movement ministry for the abstinence from alcohol and nicotine throughout the country, especially among university campuses.
Since 1980 the Korean delegates have continuously attended the world convention of WWCTU, which takes place every 3 years, and have continued discussing the problems of FAS (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome) in detail with delegates from other countries, aspiring to prevent the birth of mentally retarded or handicapped children due to alcohol consumption during pregnancy.
I hope that through our website you will gain more insight about the harm of alcohol, nicotine, other narcotic drugs, as well as the danger of FAS. Thus, may all of us abstain from drinking and smoking and work together to preach the Gospel to our neighbors. Let us participate in the act of informing the harm of all addictive products.
I pray that Korea and all humankind accept Jesus as Christ and be born again by the Holy Spirit, until the kingdom of God completely comes on Earth. May all of us testify and take part in the temperance movement.
"Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training.
They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever."
